Gas turbines, especially modern low NOx units, are sensitive to long chain and heavy molecules in the gas supply. SGS Minerals Services specializes in the determination of major components that are present in natural gas. The method utilized for the determination of major gas components meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM D-1945 Analysis of Natural Gas by Gas Chromatography with calculations in accordance with the recommendation in ASTM D-3588 Calculating Heat Value, Compressibility Factor and Relative Density (Specific Gravity) of Gaseous Fuels.

  • Basic Analysis includes Hydrocarbons C-1 through C-6, as well as several components that are separately determined and reported. These include:
    • Hydrogen .................... (H)
    • Nitrogen ...................... (N2)
    • Oxygen ....................... (O2)
    • Argon .......................... (Ar)
    • Carbon Monoxide ....... (CO)
    • Carbon Dioxide .......... (CO2)
    • Hexanes+ ................... (C6+)
  • Extended Analysis includes the basic analysis with the addition of hydrocarbons C-7 through
    C-14
  • Additional components including Aromatic and physical properties can be tested and reported upon request
